“…Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Gandhi

Drawing inspiration from this simple but powerful statement, Angela Sears is dedicated to living this philosophy. She believes the sustainable movement, currently in its infancy, has the potential to transform the way we live our lives. Her approach to design is “Design needs to support life… all life.”

The built environment is not separate from, but rather a part of the greater environment. Therefore, we need to consider the effects of every decision we make. She embraces the belief that with a goal of always striving to find new and creative solutions, the potential to live sustainably can eventually be realized. In 2002 Angela earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from the University of Kansas. Since then she has been building a diverse range of experience in the interior design field.

Angela has worked for both commercial interior design firms as well as high-end retail showrooms on the mainland and Maui. Her experience in commercial design on numerous project types was a result of working for a prominent interior design firm in Topeka, Kansas followed by her work at Kapalua Design (a division of Kapalua Land Company). These projects varied from Pig Skin’s sports bar to the Kansas Association of Realtors Offices; from Kapalua condo renovations to larger resort projects. Encompassing responsibilities from concept to completion, she has the background and knowledge to turn creative ideas into successful design solutions.

Angela also finds working with residential clients greatly rewarding and enjoys resolving design issues while guiding clients through the decision making process. Her strong listening skills translate into a clear understanding of client needs. Her ability to be a creative problem solver is supported by a desire to understand the how and why of things. These attributes are a benefit throughout the design process and result in functional, innovative and sustainable solutions that have a positive impact on people’s lives.
